Automobiles have become factories for technological devices, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add more. Some of us are just unhappy with what comes standard with our vehicles, while others want emergency equipment on hand just in case, and still others have older vehicles that need maintenance. help to accept current technology.

I’m one of those boring people who only cares about cars as a way to get from point A to point B. As a result, I usually keep a vehicle until it costs more to do so operate than to buy a new one.

My current car is a 2007 Honda Civic which, despite all the knocks and bumps it has acquired over the years (mostly from being parked on the streets of New York), still runs fine. The problem is that it lacks all the features that today’s cars offer: electronic locks, integrated touchscreens – you know, all the digital stuff.

So if I want to listen to directions from Google Maps or my podcasts or my music, I have to attach my smartphone to the dashboard using a car holder and connect it to the audio system via the car’s audio jack . However, since my recently purchased Pixel 6 doesn’t have a headphone jack (thanks Google) and my car doesn’t have Bluetooth, I had to find another way to make the connection.

So I bought this receiver, which plugs into my car’s audio jack and then connects to my phone via Bluetooth. It’s a simple gadget from an unknown brand, but once I press the button to start the Bluetooth signal, it establishes the connection immediately and allows me to hear all the sound from my phone on the speakers of the car. It also holds a charge for quite a while; I haven’t scientifically rated the duration of the charge, but it’s been a while since I last turned on the receiver, and it hasn’t run out yet.
