A new 2023 Civic Type R equipped with a handful of official Honda Access accessories has been shown to the public for the first time.
The Civic Type R in question was shown at the fourth round of the 2022 Japan Super GT Championship held at Fuji Speedway on August 6-7.
The biggest update to the Civic Type R via Honda Access is the availability of a new carbon fiber rear spoiler. This wing is not only 1 kg (2.2 lbs) lighter than the stock one, but it also has a much sharper and more aggressive shape which should help increase downforce. This wing is also intriguing because it also has aerodynamic fins on the underside.

Elsewhere, you’ll notice this particular Civic Type R is bathed in Sonic Gray Pearl and rocks a set of bright red door mirrors, perfectly matching the red brake calipers, red badging and red center caps.
Honda Access has also been busy developing a series of interior parts for the hot hatch. These include scuff plates with an illuminated Type R logo, an aluminum shift knob wrapped in red leather, carbon fiber and red polyester trim, distinctive floor mats, new puddle lamps of water and a wireless smartphone charger.
We know that Honda Access will start selling the accessories to Japanese customers in September. However, it remains unclear whether other markets will also receive the coins.
Some technical details regarding the new Civic Type R are also still to be confirmed. While we know it will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, horsepower and torque figures have not been announced. A Japanese source claims the JDM variants will pack 326 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm), serious numbers for a car sold exclusively with front-wheel drive.
